Read the instructions carefully:- Op-ed project: Select an argument made on some issue in applied ethics. This can be anything, but I have included several links to topics and resources below and throughout the syllabus on the weekly breakdown (see: additonal resources). Pretend you are writing an article that will be published in a newspaper, arguing against the stance taken by the original author (so, if the author is against euthanasia or no-platforming, you are for it, or at least in some instances).  Your op-ed should take the following structure: Introduction: what is the issue? Why is it controversial? Whose views will you be addressing (include author name, title of piece, date written, and link to original article or blog post)? Exposition: Lay out, in your own words (use quotes only if the exact wording is important to your argument), the argument of the person you are engaging with. Make sure to be charitable and carefully explain how they are backing up the (relevant) premises of their argument. Argument: pick one or more premises of the argument you have laid out, and provide your own argument against it. Consider how the author might reply to you. Explain why this reply fails. Conclude with a brief summary for the reader of what you have argued. some topics you might address (though you can choose another topic not on this list. All the topics we covered in class are available to write on as well. If you are unsure, email me to check):
