Ensuring the health and safety of workers, forms the cornerstone of ensuring workplace efficiency (Loeppke et al. 2015). Children are a sensitive group requiring specialised care, which is provided extensively by the Queensland Health and Hospital Service: a collaborative network, as well a hospital at the state platform, with the provision of quality paediatric medical care coverage from the Northern Region of New South Wales and Queensland in Australia (Children’s Health Queensland, 2018).
The provision of services catered to the health and welfare of employees, aiming to reduce occupational stress and fatigue, form the crux of quality healthcare with enhanced business profits, and primarily, customer satisfaction as a result of quality health care (Kahn 2018). Employment opportunities are abundant under this health care service, followed by the provision of welfare schemes and modifiable work hours, suited for employee benefits (Children’s Health Queensland, 2018). However, hospitals are subject to a variety of hazardous risks, for the patients as well as the concerned staff. These include: risk of transmission of infectious diseases, probability of injuries, possibilities of being assaulted and negative implications of organic waste handled by the staff. In addition, other risks include the psychological effects due to workplace stress, as well as attitudes from patients requiring special care (Ruotsalainen et al. 2015). With respect to the same, the concerned hospital should undergo quality auditing measures, as stated by the Australian Legal framework of Workplace Health and Safety Standards. For organisations, such as the aforementioned, situated in Queensland, an audit or legislation by the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, would be highly beneficial (Safe Work Australia, 2018).
