Case Study: Improving Public Health Informatics
In the event of a major disease outbreak, senior managers need to respond in a timely fashion. To be able to do so, one needs to have all the latest information and data to make an appropriate decision. The County Health Department (CHD) ‘ s strategic plan specifies increasing capacities for the program evaluation and response to major communicable disease outbreaks. Senior managers have identified the need to improve informatics capacity as an important step toward meeting these goals.
Currently, each community health services program of CHD has information systems that effectively track specific information for their assigned work. However, the systems were designed reactively without considering future expansions or an updated public health data plan. Each data base is almost a standalone system. While the state data bases are linked to CHD ‘ s data bases, the environmental data bases are not linked with communicable disease data bases. Representatives from the Tuberculosis (TB) program, for example, had to enter identical client information in four different places. Moreover, the state mandates the public health department report the health conditions of its citizens and control infectious diseases. In order for this to happen, one needs informatics systems that are capable of tracking infectious diseases and reporting all investigations in a timely manner.
While the benefits of an integrated data base stand out, most employees in CHD are reluctant to change, particularly with regard to adopting and using a new technology as evidenced by the implementations of the EMR systems and other specifically designed data bases. To ensure success of the implementation, the project manager must provide relevant information to the stakeholders on a regular basis. This case focuses on project communication management, especially within the communication plan.

In the given case study the counties health department or the CHD needs to prepare a proper communication plan that can help in maintaining a proper health rate of the citizens.
The paper provides information on how the use of the new technologies and integrated databases can help in keeping and analysing the data in a proper manner. The paper also provides with a communication plan that can help the stakeholders understand why new technologies are needed.
Communication plan:
The primary aim of the countries health department is to ensure a proper database plans in order to ensure that all the information about the diseases are stored in the database servers. This can help the department in understating which of the diseases are harmful for the city and how these can eradicated. The use of the new technologies like the big data analytics can help in the process on analysing the outbreaks of the diseases in time. In order to implement the proper way the project managers needs to take monetary help from the stakeholders of the organisation to ensure that the modern technologies are used in a proper manner. The use of the technologies like the big data can ensure that all the data that are stored in the databases of CHD can be analysed in a proper way. This also ensures that there are no humanly errors in analysing the data. The importance of the new technologies must be well explained to the stakeholders. This will ensure that the stakeholders spent money in the implementation of the new technology.
The first thing that has to be done by the CHD is to list all the nessacery stakeholders that can help in the process. Full support from the stakeholders is one of the most nessacery thing that department needs. The list of the nessacery stakeholders that can help in the process of ensuring the proper support to the department are, government agencies, sponsors, senior management, sub-contractors, clients, employees, community and the news media. These are major stakeholders that can help in the process of ensuring the proper development of the plans. The most important stakeholder in this case is the news channels. The news channels can help in the process of ensuring that proper information is provided to the community at right time. The use of the media can also help in the process to ensure that the information is provided to large number of people at a short interval of time. One of the other major stakeholder is thee government support. The government supports ensures that all the required information and other things reach the medical department on time.
The communication with the customers can be done using the telephonic conversations. This ensures that proper information is reached to the client in the correct time. One of the major thing that must be ensured is that all the conversations with any of the stakeholders must be done in formal language and must be explained in a proper manner. The employees and the management team must always be active and proper steps must be taken every time a new case is encountered. Provided detailed information can help the stakeholders. This can be called one of the major plan that can help in the process of providing enough information to the customers. One of the other thing that must ensure that, as there are more than one communication plan is required for different stakeholders follow up must be taken regarding all the information.
Used Communication plans and Project management:
Development of a good communication plan is one of the major thing that must be ensured for a successful project. One of the major thing that is ensured the given plan is to properly understand the internal and the external stakeholders. The internal stake holders can be explained as those individuals who are directly working for the project. These are management teams, the employees and government helped. They are directly working for the project. While the external stakeholders can be explained as the individuals who are wither helped form the project or are working indirectly with the project. The sponsors,-contractors, clients, community and the news media. These are not directly working for the project but are indirectly helping in the project. Some of the major recommendation for the proper enhancement of the project are:
Detailed cost and time management documents must be provided to the major stakeholders.
The help of the government must be taken in order to ensure believe of the customers.
Intercommunication between the stakeholders must be done in a proper manner.
Conclusion:
Thus, concluding the topic it can be said that, for any project the stakeholders are the most important for the process of ensuring a project. The stakeholders plays an important role both in the execution of the project and proving monetary help in the project. Further, the ideal project management practices are compared with the communication plan for this project. The use of the modern technologies helps in the process of ensuring the proper help to the public. The use of the new technologies like the big data analytics can help in the process on analysing the outbreaks of the diseases in time.
