Question:
Assessment: Project budget, schedule and resources Building
You are a project manager on a major project, and are now required to prepare the relevant documentation for the project budget, schedule and resources. Base your responses on current recommended practice, as described in contemporary literature and personal research into the industry of the Case Study. The focus is to be on the selection and application of appropriate theory, tools and techniques not how accurate your budget, schedule and resourcing are. Read your project case study carefully. As you work through these three tasks, identify any areas where you do not yet have sufficient information, and may need to ask further questions from your project sponsor. 1. Develop an appropriate budget for the Case Study project. Include details of all assumptions you have made in preparing this budget. 2. Prepare a schedule for the Case Study project, identifying the key milestones for the project deliverables. Discuss the relative merits of the methods, tools and techniques used and compare these with any that you chose not to use. 3. Finally, estimate the resources required for successful completion of the Case Study project. Integrate this with the schedule and identify potential resourcing stress points for the “critical path” that will need careful management. Identify tools and techniques that might be used here.

The condition of the largest tank in WA is particularly bad due to the tank being over 50 years old and of a complex and outdated design. The company is currently paying $20,000/month in environmental fines due to detected leakage of petroleum products into the surrounding soil.

Introduction
In this report, the case study that is taken depicts the case of a multinational oil company situated in Australia. This company has many storage facilities. This oil company has tank farms in all the states of Australia which supplies fuels to the local domestic markets. But as per the case study, the company is facing loss because of the leakage system in the tanks that stores oil. There are three big tanks which stores oil for the country. The biggest of the three tanks is 50 year old and is in a very bad condition. There are many leakage in the tanks which leads to oil spread in the soil of the ground. For this, the company pays a huge amount of money to the environment sector. This leads the company in financial loss. So, the officials of the company decided to repair the tanks and planned to make repairing budget for the tanks. This report contains the detailed planned budget for repairing the tanks and the resource that are needed for repairing the tanks are also detailed in this report.

The resource are the work force or the materials that will be needed to complete the task. There are many resources that are needed for completing the repairing project successfully. There is resource name column in the table that states the resource that will be needed for the project completion. There is cost column in the table which states the total cost of the using the resource in cost per hour schedule. There is also a resource type column which states the type of resource that is needed to complete the task. The critical path of a project is the shortest distance between the processes or tasks which will help to complete the project plan successfully. As all predecessors of the project linear, so all the tasks are taken a critical path for completing the project.
