Write a literature review on Obesity in Adults.
Answer:
Obesity is a health condition in which the body accumulates fat and leads to health problem such as coronary heart diseases. According to World Health Organization reports, for every ten adult people one is obese in the world. There are several causes of obesity as suggested by health experts. Obesity can be caused by bad eating habits such as excess consumption of food made up of calories (Ogden,et at 2014). Obesity can be caused by being inactive in physical activities. Even though there are other causes involved in obesity apart from these two mentioned above. There are many good gains for maintaining a healthy weight therefore a good reason to prevent obesity. In this paper, cause of obesity in adults is discussed.
Causes of obesity in adults
The main cause of obesity in adults is the imbalance in calories consumed and calories expended from the body (Flegal,et al 2016). In simple terms, obesity is caused by excess consumption of food with calories than the body uses. However, there are other several factors that can contribute to one becoming obese.
Bad eating habits are a leading cause of obesity. According to World Health organization, most people eat food with a lot of sugar and fat. These foods are easy and cheaper to find than health foods. This has caused many people consuming more calorie foods than health foods and in turn leading to obesity. At the same time people are becoming less active in doing physical activities or exercises (Hutchesson,et al 2015). Doing manual work has been mechanized and therefore literally people are not doing manual work at all.
