Currently the Northern Territory Government uses affirmative action called “Special Measures” to try and assist with KPI’s relating to the Aboriginal Employment and Development Strategy. As an organisation we had early wins and were the first state/territory government to reach double digits with our Indigenous employee percentage. Public Sector should represent the community we serve and NT currently has approx 33% Indigenous population, NT Government has 10.4% Indigenous employees. We have a long way to go!
I would like to research how or if other organisations utilise affirmative action to ensure diversity and true representation of the public they serve.
